Dear Scotland!
Please vote YES! I admit being sentimental about all this „Scotland the Brave“-stuff and the right of peoples for self-government. I am fully aware that nobody, least of all myself, is able to fully understand all the consequences, although a lot of examples in the past have shown clearly that independence works, be it the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia and so on, all doing fine in general on their own. So why wouldn‘t you, of all nations? After all, you Scots are the descendants of the only people who kicked the ass of the Roman Empire at the height of it‘s power. But all this is not the point.
So what is the point? It‘s simple: the EU needs you. That is, the EU as I‘d like it to be, but I‘m sure as Scottish rain not the only one thinking that way.
I‘d like a Europe of regions, of independent entities doing and deciding at home what should be done and decided at home. While at the same time these regions are part of something bigger, facing challenges like global warming or the misdeeds of big finance at the biggest possible scale, working together as a team of individuals.
Scotland could give this Europe a boost like no other. Dear Scotland: Vote YES!
